7 Things WWE Must Do In The Mixed Match Challenge
4. Acknowledge The Tournament On TV
One of the worst things WWE could do is just pretend the Mixed Match Challenge exists in a separate world from Raw and SmackDown. The company like to do this occasionally, and we need only look at what happens on shows like Total Divas for proof. It's jarring, illogical and puts up barriers for fans invested in the stories.
It's also unnecessary. The MMC doesn't need to become a dominant thread on both major brands at all; it can simply be referenced on commentary or thrown into the odd promo. There's nothing stopping The Miz from praising (or criticising) Asuka for her performances as he conducts another Miz TV skit, just as one example.
Should WWE outright ignore the tournament on Raw and SmackDown, they'll only be doing their own creation a disservice. It's hard to see this happening, due to the hype around Facebook Watch and WWE's interest in it, but it wouldn't be the first time creative have shot themselves in the foot.
