It's official: the latest former WWE star to return to the fold is none other than former WWE Diva's and Women's Champion Mickie James. Mickie will face a tough task in her comeback on November 19th as she battles hard-hitting NXT Women's Champion Asuka with the gold on the line.
After years working as a valet and wrestling on the independent circuit - including stints in Ring of Honor and TNA as 'Alexis Laree' - Mickie made her way to WWE or, more specifically, to OVW, in the summer of 2003 to learn how to look, act and wrestle like a WWE star. That education paid dividends, as she looked, acted and wrestled like a proper stat when she showed up on Raw (as Trish Stratus's obsessed fan) on October 10th, 2005.
Over the next five years she would cement herself as one of the top female performers on the roster, turning into an immensely popular babyface. Unfortunately, outside-the-ring goings on would lead to her downfall and eventual release in April 2010. After that she moved to TNA, started a country music career in Nashville and married Nick 'Magnus' Aldis and had a baby bot in December 2014.
Since then she's been back in WWE for a cup of coffee, doing some training at the Performance Center and speaking briefly with WWE.com about a potential return to the word's biggest wrestling organisation. Now the 37-year-old is on her way back in a big way. As is usually the case with performers of her era, there are one or two things that WWE would rather you forget about while getting excited about her showdown with Asuka...
