"I failed at wrestling. I failed to be in the main event of WrestleMania" That's a pretty hefty goal to set yourself. When young Phil Brooks took his first steps inside a wrestling ring in 1999, did he really set himself the goal of main eventing WrestleMania? Most pros set themselves the goal of doing what they love for a living rather than a hobby. This way, they can totally dedicate themselves to their chosen craft, as opposed to being a weekend warrior, who wrestles when they're not working a day job. As that person settles in to being a pro, they may set themselves new goals - win a title, face a particular wrestler who they've long admired etc. To state that you've failed at wrestling because you didn't main event WrestleMania is the best example of a 'glass half empty' attitude. To view your wrestling career as a failure because of this means that Punk is ignoring the facts that he became a full time professional wrestler, that he travelled the world, that he signed with the biggest wrestling company in the world, that he main evented a PPV in his hometown, that he won their top championship on multiple occasions or even that he met his wife through the wrestling business.
