7 Times Hulk Hogan Was An Awful Person In The Royal Rumble

1. Pure Petulance In 1992

The 1992 edition is considered by many to be the greatest Rumble of all time, as Ric Flair (practically) went coast to coast to win his first WWF Championship. The title was on the line thanks to a series of controversial matches between Hogan and The Undertaker, and The Hulkster was understandably considered one of the favourites heading into the contest.

Hulk made it all the way to the final three, along with Flair and Sid Justice. As all three were vying for position, Justice managed to legally eliminate Hogan from the match. Despite this absolutely fair and understandable turn of events, Hogan refused to accept it and proceeded to cling onto Sid by the arm. This allowed ‘The Nature Boy’ to sneak up behind Justice and dump him out for the win.

This was undoubtedly the most petulant act in the history of the Royal Rumble. Hogan resembled a spoiled child as he desperately clung onto the arm of Sid, refusing to accept that he wasn’t going to win. It was a truly pathetic piece of behaviour. It also meant that Hogan had illegally helped eliminate every single person that removed him from the Royal Rumble history.

When you add these moments to the back-scratching, eye-raking and general heel moves of Hogan, is it surprising that he eventually turned heel and joined the nWo? The heels were right all of this time - Hulkamania really did need to die.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
