7 Times Vince McMahon Wrongly Thought His Top WWE Stars Were Finished

4. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon had a fruitful business relationship in the 1980s and into the early 90s but, by 1993, both wanted to see the back of each other. Hogan had aspirations of making it big in Hollywood and Vince wanted to focus on a 'new generation' of stars like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Hulkamania been going strong for almost a decade but its novelty was wearing thin. Vince realised this and figured that he needed to replace Hogan. He'd already tried it once with the Ultimate Warrior, but that didn't quite take. With Vince's steroid trial he wisely decided to focus on smaller, more athletic wrestlers. Hulkamania might have been almost dead but Hogan himself certainly was not. When his movie career (predictably) failed, he made his way to WCW, signing a lucrative deal which guaranteed he would be booked as their biggest star. Once the Hulkamania nostalgia wore off on the southern audience, the Hulkster realised it was time for a change. Hogan completely reinvented himself as the heelish face of the nWo stable. Hogan was the figurehead of the hottest group in wrestling and drew huge money, while helping WCW beat nWo in the ratings war. Vince's petty Billionaire Ted skits, featuring 'The Huckster' were essentially Vince admitting that he was wrong about Hogan (and bitter about it).
