7 Times WWE Blew It With Jack Swagger

1. World Heavyweight Champion

Snaring the Money In The Bank briefcase in a jarring upset at WrestleMania 26, Swagger wouldn't hang around, shockingly cashing in on Chris Jericho four days later on Smackdown to claim his first and only World Title.

It was something nobody could have foreseen, but the hope was that as a newcomer to the fold, Swagger would shine with the title, and an instant main eventer would emerge from the run.

Confusingly though, rather than allowing 'The All American American' to portray the character that had gotten over with crowds enough to give management the backbone to gamble on him in the first place, WWE stripped virtually everything away.

Requesting that Swagger portray a no-nonsense brooding bully, gone was the enthusiastic chest-pounding and press-ups in his entrance and obnoxious grins and growls in his promos. Worst of all, it was replaced with nothing.

Swagger wasn't yet the performer to portray that sort of nuanced character, and by the time gave him back all his necessary tools, the run had lost all steam.

Dropping the title to Rey Mysterio at June's Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view, Swagger was abruptly shunted back down the card after his obligatory rematches, then confusingly allowed to play the old version of himself all over again.
