7 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Collision (Sept 23 - Results & Review)

6. What A Scumbag!

AEW Collision Luchasaurus Christian Cage
AEW

Speaking of starting Collision off on a positive foot, that's exactly what this week's opening match certainly did.

Here, we had a handicap... err, triple-threat bout where Christian Cage and TNT Champion Luchasaurus took on Darby Allin. Of course, ever the scheming scumbag, it was Christian who emerged victorious to officially become the TNT Champion, pinning Luchasaurus after Darby had hit the dinosaur with his Coffin Drop.

This contest started at a frenetic pace, with Allin brilliant (as per) as the underdog, immediately throwing dirt in Luchasaurus' eyes and diving onto Cage outside the ring. That frantic assault didn't last all that long, for the heels would quickly use the numbers game to dominate Darby.

It also didn't take long for Christian to try and pin Allin after telling Luchasaurus to leave the ring. There, Nigel McGuinness fantastically backed up Christian by noting how the Canadian was simply trying to use up the energy of Darby, rather than actually trying to pin him to win the match.

Post-match, Tony Schiavone interviewed Christian Cage backstage when Collision returned from break, with it revealed that Christian and Darby will have a two-out-of-three falls bout at next week's WrestleDream PPV.
