7 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 27)

1. This Guy... Again

Daniel Bryan

Of course Daniel Bryan was the best thing on the show. Expecting anything else would've been foolish, such is the hype surrounding the current General Manager's impending in-ring return, and his allure as a performer.

When Bryan speaks from the heart, you're made to believe every single word he says. He's comfortably the most convincing performer in the company at the moment. Rejuvenated by his recent medical clearance, he was just as brilliant on the microphone last night as he was in the previous week's comeback, and cut a strong promo on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Emotion was rife. Bryan stayed professional throughout, but was fired up not only by his return and last week's assault. This led to him booking the expected WrestleMania tag match, with himself and Shane McMahon taking on Sami and Kevin. The troublesome duo will be reinstated when they win, but Daniel is sick of board meetings, paperwork, and blazers. He is, in his own words, "a man who will fight for his dreams, and the man who'll kick ass at WrestleMania," and he won't allow Zayn and Owens to take his career away.

Shane's bout with diverticulitis could throw a spanner in the works, but the segment was class. Bryan is brilliant. Here's hoping his comeback delivers, and WWE don't end up dousing it in their usual tropey bulls***, as this story is too special to waste.
