7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (June 5 - Results & Review)
2. The Summer Is Looking Hot
MJF cut his promo in the opening segment where, just prior to the main event, Bryan Danielson vowed to reverse his big match form and win this year's Owen Hart Cup - the victor of which will challenge the World Champion at All In: London.
Swerve Strickland in his backstage interview meanwhile promised to deal with MJF later. He said "MJF, you little bitch!" with a wonderful, sinister faux-sincerity that was infinitely funnier than Chris Jericho's bullsh*t. Remember when Jon Moxley took an ax to the "GFY" by telling a heckler to go f*ck himself? That was the margin here.
These developments hinted at the main event and semi main event of All In II: Will Ospreay Vs. Bryan Danielson II, and MJF Vs. Swerve Strickland. If that is indeed the direction, Tony Khan has responded to the critics who savaged last year's edition for its lack of major singles attractions.
You could argue that telegraphing these matches has undermined the unpredictable and bold Forbidden Door main event - but at long last, the World title scene feels big-time.
