7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's SmackDown (Apr 10)

Natalya Naomi

Two nights removed from a surprising win in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal, a trophy-gazing Naomi was accosted by Natalya, who claimed she wasn't a deserving victor. A damning indictment, given the lack of f***s WWE show for these matches, and it provided an easy pathway to a singles bout, which came immediately after.

It wasn't great. Sadly, the duo struggled to get anything going, with Natalya's control period particularly disappointing. She's a fine wrestler on her day, but those days are coming less often than ever, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to justify the argument that she's an under-pushed worker. Matches like this are why, as while nobody should have expected a ****+ showdown, it delivered nothing you'll remember a few days from now.

While it'd be nice to see WWE make good their pre-'Mania bluster by doing something with Naomi's Battle Royal win, history isn't on her side. She'll likely lug the trophy around for a few weeks, scoring a few listless victories, before WWE forget about it entirely. We'd love to be wrong, but the pattern is undeniable.
