7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Apr 24)
4. Practice Makes Perfect
Concerns were voiced when the returning Big Cass was immediately thrust into the main event spotlight last week. His last heel run was a disaster, and he has never been particularly compelling in the ring. This led to fears that he'd soon become 2018's answer to Jinder Mahal, pushed well above his natural level, and while this may still come to pass, the seven-footer went some way to alleviating the concerns last night.
Cass' Miz TV promo delivered. Big time.
Up to this point, the big man's mic work had always been as stiff as a board. He was fine with a character like Enzo Amore to bounce off , but wholly unimpressive during his first singles run, which was one of the reasons many were so worried when he returned last week. Fortunately, Cass was calmer, more assured, and more focused than he has ever been during his Miz interview. He came off like an entitled piece of s*** as he ran through his and Daniel Bryan's contrasting career paths, and none of it came off forced. A huge win for a huge man.
Cass has clearly been working on his promos while injured, and it paid off last night. Let's just hope his ring rust isn't too severe...
