7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Nov 27)
3. Giving Purpose To Survivor Series
Well, it happened.
WWE somehow found a way to make the memory of Survivor Series 2020 live on, and that's not something anybody thought would happen. In fact, if anything, most (including yours truly) thought the entire pay-per-view would be forgotten by Monday night. It sort of was on Raw, but not on Friday.
Roman Reigns berated Jey Uso for losing as part of Team SmackDown, and his cousin excused the loss by saying his teammates didn't listen to him. Firing back, Reigns said that nobody fears Jey, which is why he couldn't lead his side to victory. That, dear reader, is how you make one of these elimination bouts mean something.
The character work from all concerned here was excellent. Reigns is menacing and moody, Uso is frustrated and keen to prove he can be a 'Big Dog' instead of a puppy with big paws, and Paul Heyman's facial expressions are top class.
These guys are gonna' have to stop being so great. There aren't enough superlatives!
