7 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 1)

Ups...

7. Montreal

Enthusiasm is contagious. Nothing tanks a show like a sterile audience, even when watching from home. It's difficult to invest in any bout when the live crowd can't generate anything above a polite murmur, but on the flip side, a white-hot audience can take a show to the next level, with their palpable excitement elevating the content.

Montreal fall into the latter category for both Raw and SmackDown this week. They were fantastic throughout, largely treating babyfaces like heroes, and jeering the heels out of the building. They didn't try to take over with lengthy "CM Punk" chants and beachballs, but bought into the characters and storylines, and deserve a huge pat on the back for keeping their enthusiasm levels constant across two nights.

If only every crowd could make this much noise when Raw and SmackDown come to town...
