7 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Aug 7)

2. A Rocky Rematch

Last night's Lana vs. Zelina Vega match was a downgrade from the previous week, which delivered little in the way of quality work itself.

Mercifully, the rematch was kept to under four minutes. It all boiled down to more Rusev/Aiden English-related f*ckery, with 'The Shakespeare Of Song' defying his ally's orders by running down to the ring, knocking Andrade Almas into Lana, and costing her the victory. A fine conclusion (and one we'll dive into later), but the action preceding it stunk.

Though restricted to a managerial role for the bulk of her WWE run, Vega is, by all accounts, a solid wrestler. She's a former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion, and kept a busy independent schedule before inking with Stamford, but hasn't been able to drag anything serviceable from Lana, whose shortcomings between the ropes remain.

Fans should expect better in 2018. While there's no denying the work ethic, the output just isn't there.
