7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (12 Aug - Results & Review)
1. Making Breakker
Bron Breakker has been on the ascent for some time on the main roster, but his feud with Sami Zayn really has elevated his game in recent weeks.
Just looking at both men’s in-ring styles, you couldn’t pick a better pairing, with Bron’s no-nonsense, high-impact offense meshing well with Sami’s fight-from-underneath, wily veteran persona. Their two-out-of-three-falls match Monday night encapsulated this well, with Zayn getting the first fall by capitalizing on Breakker’s overzealousness (similar to their first title match) and catching him with a Helluva Kick.
But then, it was the Bron Breakker Show, as the champ had to actually fight from underneath to win two straight falls and retain his title. He did this with a mix of brute strength, insane athleticism, and some good counters to Sami’s signature moves.
It’s still crazy to realize how young Bron is in wrestling terms and how good he already is. He’s still green in many ways, but being in there with the likes of Zayn will only make him better, and Monday’s match was a solid indicator of what’s possible as he continues to develop.
