7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (12 Aug - Results & Review)

Ups…

7. Brutes Ready To Brawl

For weeks, Pete Dunne has been embroiled in a feud with former Brawling Brutes teammate Sheamus, attacking him repeatedly and leaving the Celtic Warrior to wonder what he did wrong.

Dunne finally put some reason behind his attacks on Sheamus Monday night, telling the Raw audience in a pre-taped interview that he resented being “little brothered” and given a stupid nickname of Butch when he came up to the main roster, treated as a sidekick when he’s an 18-year veteran, not some kid. He had to swallow his pride during this run.

While the Bruiserweight isn’t the greatest promo, this simple explanation gave more context (and would’ve been better served to have aired a couple weeks earlier rather than a derivative showing up on NXT) and justification (from his perspective) for the attacks. Sheamus, meanwhile, didn’t need to do much beyond contend that he always tried to raise up Dunne.

Dunne would attack Sheamus backstage, setting up their one-on-one match for next week. It’s not the sexiest story, but the match will deliver, and that’s good enough for this one.
