7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE Raw (25 Mar - Results & Review)

UPS…

7. Kudos To The Camerawork

It’s been pointed out a few times prior, but it’s worth noting that WWE’s production team is continuing to experiment with different camera angles and shots throughout its shows in a post-Kevin Dunn world.

Monday night, fans were treated to an overhead view of a match between Ivy Nile and Candice LeRae, providing a look not seen often on WWE programming. When CM Punk was about to make his return to Chicago, the camera followed him from gorilla before his music hit to yelling “It’s clobberin’ time!” with the fans in the arena.

But the most notable moment came when Raw returned from commercial during the Ricochet/JD McDonagh match, with the camera coming down the aisle and circling the ring, following the action through a series of moves and pinfall attempts. All told, that single camera shot lasted an insane 1:40, which has to be about 1:38 longer than the average camera cut under Dunn.

Even if not all of these different angles and shots work, the fact WWE is willing to throw different looks out there – in the midst of WrestleMania season, no less – is a positive development for a 31-year-old show.
