1. On Punk’s Level

Sami Zayn continues to be a babyface who can lose matches cleanly and come out of it in a better position than when he started the night. Witness his Elimination Chamber qualifier match against CM Punk on Raw.

Zayn and Punk went toe-to-toe, with Punk targeting Sami’s arm and Zayn constantly countering the Second City Saint’s attacks, turning a bulldog into a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near-fall at one point and a Go to Sleep into an Exploder suplex just before the finish.

Punk, who has blasted Zayn as not being on his level, found himself on the defensive several times and unable to put Sami away until he managed to catch a charging Zayn and hit a GTS for the win in a fantastic match. Afterward, Punk showed some respect, burying their animosity, it would seem.

The question is whether this impacts Seth Rollins, who actively cheered on and tried to motivate Sami prior to the match, noting that Zayn dislikes Punk as well, and that Sami was the man who could prevent Punk from achieving his dream while coming one step closer to his own.

At the very least, this should give Karrion Kross something to harp on next week.
