Ups…

7. The Wyatts Are Human

For some time now, the prevailing wisdom about the Wyatt Sicks has been that they are not a supernatural act, like the Undertaker or Bray Wyatt had become. They’re a group that utilizes a lot of spooky elements as part of their act to intimidate opponents and throw them off their game.

Bottom line: they’re human, and they can be hurt. That’s what happened on Monday night when Paul Ellering returned to help the Final Testament put the Wyatts down by throwing powder in Uncle Howdy’s face. At some point, the Wyatts needed to lose a match, at the very least to see how fans handle it and whether it diminishes the act in any way. There’s always the possibility that support could grow because fans relate to their struggles, or they could lose interest.

The flip side to the negative here is that the Wyatt Sicks have been around for about six months now, and while crowd reactions are still strong, if there’s going to be longevity and growth with the group, then they need to actually face adversity and see how fans react to it.

Losing the eight-man tag match on Monday was one way to test that out. Rip the bandage off and get their first loss out of the way, then see where things go next.
