5. Making Everyone Pay

Triple H’s WWE does one thing very well: characters know their motivations and they remain constant. There isn’t a week-to-week shift in alliances, reasoning or rationale.

Drew McIntyre has been consistently angry at Roman Reigns and anyone who ever assisted him in holding onto his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Jey Uso coming over to Raw last year is what led McIntyre to turn heel, with CM Punk’s return only accelerating and solidifying it.

With that background, the Scottish Warrior’s return on Monday was perfectly measured, with Drew noting that he had returned home to recover from his injuries in Hell in a Cell, and while he was removed from everything, he began questioning whether people could actually change… until he flipped on Survivor Series and saw Sami Zayn and Jey and Jimmy Uso running to Roman’s side to throw up the 1s and empower the Original Tribal Chief. (At least Punk sold his services for a favor.)

McIntyre having renewed hatred for Jey and Sami (whom he attacked last week) for bailing Reigns out fits his longstanding motivations, making him a consistent heel. He still hates Roman and anyone who helps him. Even with the face/heel dynamic shifted a bit, Drew still is the self-righteous villain, which is just perfect casting.
