7 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 19)

6. Effective Build (And More)

Grayson Waller AJ Styles

The "Grayson Waller Effect" chat show bit is basically another Miz TV, but it worked on this occasion because the guest had something impactful to talk about. Waller is a spectacular d*ckhead as host, and he acted like the devil on AJ Styles' shoulder by warning that days of winning World Titles are in the veteran's past.

There's the main reason why Grayson was in this spot, people.

AJ stared blankly at him as if to say, 'Maybe you're right'. Then, he rallied and put across a compelling argument for beating Seth Rollins at Night Of Champions to bag the new World Heavyweight Title. This was rock solid work from both men, and could feasibly lead to something down the line.

Like Asuka, AJ can elevate fresher names simply by being inside WWE rings with them. He might be a Miz-esque heel looking to push buttons, but Waller is right: Styles' days as a sustainable main-eventer are very-much over anyway.

Good segment.
