7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Mar 24)

1. Silver Makes Gold

Darby Allin Coffin Drop
AEW

Despite the cocaine of The Young Bucks and Brandon Cutler vs. The Lucha Brothers and Laredo Kid, John Silver and Darby Allin had the best match last night, bringing their thunder in the TNT Title main event.

This was set up when Allin paid tribute to Brodie Lee by issuing a Dark Order open challenge last week. Silver, the most exciting possible opponentm answered, and the result was a match that perfectly played on their respective strengths.

Allin and Silver started by trading holds before John smashed Darby through the ropes and out of the ring. So convincing was Allin's selling that it looked like he'd suffered a shoot concussion for a second. Soon, Allin was getting hossed around the ring, battered by the bigger, beefier boy, and it worked well. Few are more convincing when getting their *ss handed to them.

Even in his comebacks, Allin kept stumbling and collapsing due to the cumulative damage. He fired back for a dive but found himself landing on Alan Angels, who had shoved Silver away to take a bullet for his teammate, before turning the tide decisively by smashing John into the barricades. A couple of near-fall scares later, Allin countered out of a Brodie-tribute Powerbomb and into the Code Red for the win.

A chaotic brawl followed, with Matt Hardy, Allin, Silver, the entire Dark Order, Tay Conti, The Bunny, and The Butcher and The Blade all involved, closing Dynamite on a wild note.
