7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite: St. Patrick's Day Slam (Mar 17)

Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa go to war, MJF's stable gets a name, Moxley and Kingston feel the pain.

The All Elite Wrestling marketing machine is nothing if not brazen.

An immense wave of self-created hype rocked the promotion at Revolution 2021, when the main event's promised explosion fizzled, puffed, and invited ridicule. It was the most embarrassing moment in AEW history. Worse than those Dark Order "punches" in December 2019 and the Tooth and Nail match put together, AEW did a good job of explaining and rebounding last week, but they'll never scrub the moment from history. It's there forever.

It therefore took huge balls for them to build similar anticipation for Britt Baker vs. Thunder Rosa this week, as barely an hour passed without an AEW personality putting the pretaped bout over as special on social media. For the second time in a fortnight, the weight of expectation was huge.

Find out if it delivered later in the article.

As well as Baker and Rosa working AEW's first women's main event, last night saw Cody Rhodes and Penta El Zero M go one on one, the fallout from MJF's Inner Circle betrayal, Christian Cage speaking for the first time, and Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston vs. The Good Brothers.

Let's light the fuse...
