7 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Revolution 2021

2. It's... It's Christian?!

The hype built for AEW's "hall of fame worthy" debut was such that anyone that wasn't Brock Lesnar, John Cena, or CM Punk was going to draw a mixed or negative response, but Christian Cage is one hell of an acquisition six weeks after his WWE comeback at Royal Rumble 2021

Cage's unveiling was short and simple. His old TNA music hit as he came out onto the stage, walked into the ring, signed his contract, and left. Quick and easy, with no extra fuss. Just enough to create anticipation for whatever he does next without taking up too much airtime.

Christian looked great in his Rumble run, though greater tests will come when he's asked to go one-on-one with AEW's biggest and best. Regardless, this is a significant pickup. It's not the huge, game-changing acquisition a Lesnar or Punk would have been, but who's to say they were realistic propositions? The newcomer should be a considerable boost to AEW's business and if he has as much left in the tank as he appears to, this is going to be a fun, fun run.
