7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE NXT: New Year's Evil (Results & Review - 2 Jan)
6. Something Different
It would be easy to dismiss Out the Mud as a goofy act of wrestlers pretending to be street toughs, especially with former sommelier Reggie now going by Scrypts and fronting the group.
But even with some silly vignettes revolving around Chase U, OTM has looked more and more like they might be worth a look. Their pre-taped promo Tuesday night felt different – in a good way. They didn’t feel like three guys playing characters as much as three guys just spitting at the camera.
Bronco Nima in particular sounded raw, like someone scratching and clawing, and both he and Lucien Price made the scripted words sound authentic. Obviously, things could be very different when the bell rings, or they could be booked to participate in some ridiculous backstage skit next week.
But considered in a vacuum, Tuesday’s promo caught your attention and made you take quick notice of OTM, and that’s enough to merit an “up” here.
