7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (17 Feb - Results & Review)
2. Four Matches In And Already On Repeat
It’s understandable that WWE doesn’t want to rush Penta into a massive feud before he’s firmly established himself, while also being conscious of the calendar. However, the masked luchador had been in WWE for just north of a month and he’s already facing opponents he soundly defeated previously. Monday night, he toppled Pete Dunne for a second time in a match where fans couldn’t seem to care unless Penta was blistering through his signature offense.
While the match itself was fine, the finish brought Ludwig Kaiser into the fray, with Dunne inexplicably getting agitated with the turtleneck-clad observer. This naturally led to them arguing and Penta shoving Dunne into Kaiser and nailing the Penta Driver for the win.
Afterward, Pete and Ludwig began fighting outside and Penta dove onto both of them, signaling that we will be getting a triple threat between the men, which isn’t a terrible prospect but feels anticlimactic already – Penta has beaten both of them in singles matches already.
This is likely a space-and-time-filler for Penta, but that doesn’t mean it’s good booking. Realistically, it is good that WWE is booking Penta into a mini-feud rather than losing interest and shuttling him to the back burner. But maybe not having him feud with people he’s already decisively beaten would have been a better play.
