If you wanted a clear sign that “wrestling” was no longer a dirty word in World Wrestling Entertainment, look no further than the promo between Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens Monday night.

McIntyre talked about potential opponents if he wins the Undisputed WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle, which drew KO out. The two sparred verbally for a while until McIntyre decreed that they were two “wrestling in a wrestling ring, so let’s wrestle!”.

Yeah, using the word “wrestle” (or a derivative) three times in a 10-second span is as clear a sign that you can once again call what WWE superstars do “wrestling” as you’re going to get.

Oh sure, we’re still going to hear stuff like “championship opportunity” and “competitor” here and there, but you’ve got to love at least the acknowledgement of what these guys and gals actually are doing instead of “clever” euphemisms.
