7 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Mar 15)
2. It'll All Be Over Soon...
WWE hasn't booked an intergender match since Becky Lynch wasted James Ellsworth in 2017, so it was surprising to see the company formally book Alexa Bliss vs. Randy Orton for Fastlane, despite their ongoing storyline.
This won't be a conventional match and Orton isn't going to "wrestle" Bliss, who must have less than half The Viper's body mass. Shenanigans, disruptions, and smoke and mirrors will make it more of an angle than a match, possibly leading to The Fiend's return before Orton faces Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 37. Perhaps somebody will cough up black goo along the way.
Orton and Bliss' zany, universe-breaking tale continued last night, as Wyatt's childlike avatar and her spooky white contact lenses challenged Randy to meet her at Fastlane. Deep into the third hour, Randy accepted, promising to literally kick Bliss out of his life.
Though the lack of possession, goo, and other impossibilities was welcome, suspending disbelief is still impossible in this feud built on outdated straight-to-DVD horror tropes performed by bad actors - and now a match that cannot happen. At least the end is in sight.
