6. BFT Out Of Nowhere

There was a cool finish to LA Knight vs. Santos Escobar that's worth talking about.

Knight hit a BFT on Santos in mid-air like he was doing his best Randy Orton impersonation. On commentary, Wade Barrett even said that it was "a BFT out of nowhere". Randy's legal team shall be in touch, Mr. Barrett. Seriously though, the finishing bump looked awesome, and it gave Knight's finisher some extra added oomph it otherwise lacks when he hits it normally; BFT isn't one of the best wrestling moves ever, but it worked here.

This singles match might’ve been less exciting without the United States Title thing hanging over it too. It's clear both are capable of better overall, but they entered a workmanlike effort that got the job done and never dipped below watchable. However, Escobar needs something to do character-wise soon. He's been drifting horribly since splitting from Rey Mysterio and the LWO, and that was a lifetime ago.

It's fair to say that Knight vs. Santos was the second best of the three "qualifiers" (if you can even call them that) WWE peppered throughout SmackDown. Another match soared to higher heights than this one could reach. Well, apart from Escobar when he went for something off the top but got caught by the aforementioned BFT goodness.

Knight is the kind of babyface who doesn't need to do much talking every week. Just stick him in matches with purpose like this one and let fans roar his catchphrases as he conducts the orchestra. That US Title will be back around his waist soon enough, it seems.
