7 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dark (Jul 28)

1. Best Friends vs. The Dark Order

John Silver Trent
AEW

An absolute riot and comfortably the best thing on the show, this was extremely indie, like a Beyond, Black Label Pro, or GCW tag bout playing out in a near-empty building with slightly better production values.

Alex Reynolds and John Silver might be two of the most underrated wrestlers in America right now. They're an experienced tag team with big personality and lots of experience, having wrestled Best Friends several times over the past few years. It's always fun seeing them showing what they can do as they're usually cast as The Dark Order's meat shields. A fine role, and one they do well, though Dark gives a great opportunity for Silver and Reynolds to get their own sh*t in.

Though nothing blowaway, this was a fast, well-worked match that barely stayed still for a second. The Dark Order lost, sparking frustration from Stu Grayson on the ramp, though that was always likely to be the case.

If you only watch one thing from this week's Dark, make sure it's this. ***1/2 region.
