7 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dark (Nov 24)

1. The Spanish God

Marko Stunt Sammy Guevara
AEW

Last night was a good one for Sammy Guevara, who cut a sweet promo after his victory over Marko Stunt, forecasting a potentially bright babyface future. With The Inner Circle about to find itself in turmoil, his focus is now on proving there's no bigger or brighter star than 'The Spanish God' in the entire promotion. Sounds like he's about to chase some gold.

The match was on point. Guevara is great in shorter bouts and Marko plays his slippery, evasive role well, working his way into matches by using his superior speed and diminutive frame to escape holds and craft openings. His offense is never oversold, either, and Guevara brushed much of it off, maintaining a sense of realism. The exception to this was when Stunt launched himself from the stage onto Sammy, though this led to the finish, as Guevara plucked an overconfident Marko from the top rope, put him on his shoulders, and hit the GTH for the win.

It's about time Guevara was reheated, as he feels like a tertiary figure on Dynamite at the moment. Fingers crossed this was the start of his re-elevation,
