7 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 6)

4. Move On, Shawn

Shawn Spears
AEW

There was nothing wrong with the delivery of Shawn Spears' promo as he ripped into Cody for not sparing his brother's punishment by throwing in the towel against Lance Archer last week. Spears came off well, spoke with reason, and sounded confident.

That he's still chasing Cody's ghost is the problem. Sure, he has plenty of reasons to want to settle the score with 'The American Nightmare,' but having him going straight for Cody so soon after losing to him for a second time makes him look needy. Spears felt like a yappy little puppy begging for attention from one of the biggest dogs in the yard - and that's not a good look for someone who dearly needs to move on to something different.

Put this programme on ice, have Cody and Spears work with other people for a while, then come back to it if necessary. For now, the continued pot-stirring makes 'The Chairman' look desperate.
