7 Ups & 5 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Homecoming 2021

1. The Wrong Type Of Cocky

Out of context, Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green vs. Petey Williams and Jordynne Grace was fine. The four gelled together perfectly, executing a handful of entertaining spots that benefitted from the crowd's involvement; the stereo Steiner Recliners from the latter got a great reaction.

Unfortunately, the perception of Cardona and Green coming away from this made them appear like they're on the verge of a heel turn. The crowd booed them at times, giving them a scathing response when they prevented stereo Canadian Destroyers. By herself, Chelsea seemed to be gloating towards the audience, ultimately pinning Jordynne off an I'm Prettier. They simply didn't work in the cocky heel role, given the uber positive reaction they received at Slammiversary.

It didn't help, of course, that they came against perennial fan favourites Petey and Jordynne. The crowd were lapping up the pair's Scott Steiner tribute, particularly the double push up out of the feigned pinfall. Arguably, they should have advanced here; it's not as if being crowned Homecoming King and Queen is going to matter in the overall IMPACT story arc moving forward, anyway. A nothing win could have been given to them here.
