7 Ups & 5 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jul 26)

1. The Golden Draw

Having Rich Swann as the X Division Champion was fine while it lasted. He was a great guy to have at the head of a division that's predominantly about the high-flying style of wrestling, and he always put in a good showing. However, he had held the gold since January's Homecoming pay-per-view, meaning there wasn't that much left for him to do.

Step up, Jake Crist.

The oVe member challenged Swann for the gold this week, and actually ended up winning the championship, marking his first singles title victory in Impact. It wasn't the cleanest of victories, with both Madman Fulton and Jake's brother Dave interfering to assist their oVe comrade in taking home the prize that Sami Callihan couldn't, with a move known as the Buckeye Drop (Spike Dudley's old finisher) securing the victory for Jake Crist as a new champion was crowned.

Without a doubt, this is a huge step forward for the X division. Rich's reign wasn't exactly getting stale, but we could certainly do with a new champion at this point. Who better than an oVe member? With the other three members watching his back, expect to see another long reign from Jake.
