7 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Elimination Chamber 2022
5. Opening With Goldberg
WWE scratched an itch they've had since 2020 by booking Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber. Now, the entire wrestling world hopes that they've had their fill of big Bill for a while. That's coming from a lifelong supporter of the guy, but come on - how many of these titles shots does he need?!
At least it opened the show. That was wise.
The company got Goldberg's latest flirtation with major belts out of the way early, and that also meant people in Jeddah were excited to see him. They'd only watched The Miz vs. Rey Mysterio before that, so the Universal Title showdown carried weight. It came out looking like a bigger deal than it would've had it happened later on.
Goldberg vs. Reigns ended up being the shortest match on the card, which was yet another win for it/everyone watching. 2022 Bill is at his best when he roars out of the traps, hits a few power moves and then stares at the lights. Older WCW marks might take umbrage at that!
