7 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 21)

2. Brock Is Gold On Mic

Who would have thought after years of standing there stoically and doing next-to-nothing while Paul Heyman dropped A+ promo after A+ promo, Brock Lesnar was capable of carrying a strong promo segment himself.

The Beast and new WWE Champion opened Raw as a pure babyface, slapping hands, laughing, celebrating and encouraging a “Suplex City” chant. Before he really got to talk, Heyman came out and bantered back and forth with him a bit, as they discussed Brock having to defend his newly won title at Madison Square Garden in two weeks.

Lesnar made sure to tell Paul E. that he’s doing just fine without his former advocate, and then warned him that he will be showing up on SmackDown Friday night to reintroduce himself to Roman Reigns.

Disagree all you want with the unnecessary title-for-title stipulation (this writer thinks it’s overkill), but Brock was pitch-perfect in this promo and came across as a killer, but one that might not murder the front row of fans.
