7 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Oct 10)

3. Omos: Jobber Killer, Crowd Killer

Here we are, 18 months after Omos’ main roster in-ring debut, and he’s still battling jobbers in handicap matches that play out to absolute silence from fans.

Really, that’s the entire point here. Omos beat two jobbers in a match on Raw Monday night, the third time he’s done that in the past two months. Since losing his feud against Bobby Lashley this spring, he’s had nothing resembling a sustained rivalry and has not really been involved in anything of substance other than the Money in the Bank ladder match.

The worst part is that Omos’ matches play out in eerie silence, with fans not really reacting to much of anything, even when the announcers sell it as if he’s wreaking havoc on his opponents. It’s hard to imagine anyone tuning in to see an Omos squash, which has got to be approaching “bathroom break” status for the live fans.

It’s disappointing to say this, because he’s been forced to develop almost entirely on TV rather than on NXT house shows. But his match Monday night was just another in a series of forgettable, directionless squashes.
