7 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Thanksgiving (24 Nov)

4. Hayter Shuns Baker

Jamie Hayter
AEW

Jamie Hayter vs. Thunder Rosa justified the decision to start Hayter's split from Britt Baker and Rebel. While she fits her role as Baker's heavy, she's too good a wrestler to play a secondary character. She entered a good, intense performance against Rosa last night, working the former NWA World Champion's back throughout, and while short, the match demonstrated she is more than ready to go it alone.

AEW have been teasing this for a while now. Unlike Rebel, who'd do anything to stay in Baker's favour, Hayter has never gone all in. She never goes with the "DMD" bit at the end of her ally's promos. She is her own person, her own personality, and a potential breakout singles star in 2022.

The match was slightly let down by a contrived finish that saw Baker accidentally kick Hayter while Rebel distracted the referee, allowing Rosa to get the pin. Regardless, Jamie walking away from the Women's World Champion started the process of setting her off on her own.
