7 Ups & 8 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Dec 3)

2. Mission Accomplished

Michael Elgin declared at the start of the show that he was looking to punish someone, and he accomplished just that as he interrupted the opening match between Eddie Edwards and Brian Cage. 'Big Mike' ambushed both men, which led to him being inserted into the bout to make it a three way, as opposed to the bout simply being thrown out. A unique touch.

Thankfully, Elgin's addition to the match made things that bit better. He was flinging Edwards all over the ring with German suplexes and lariats that turned the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal winner inside out. The former American Wolf would very nearly score a surprise win, but Michael Elgin would snag a win thanks to an Elgin Bomb to Edwards for the three. Tactically, Elgin had preceded the Elgin Bomb by powerbombing Eddie into Brian Cage to prevent 'The Machine' from breaking up the pin.

A fantastic match to open the night's action. Eddie Edwards was excellent here as the ragdoll, proving himself to be Impact's resident plucky underdog, while also coming close to a win following a Boston Knee Party to the back of Brian Cage's neck. It's perhaps about time he does something about that Call Your Shot trophy he carries around with him, but he can certainly eat a loss for the time being.
