6. Filling Time, But Entertaining

The eight-man tag match to open Raw was clearly there to serve as a time-filler for a three-hour Raw – and let’s face it, after axing another 18 wrestlers, they have fewer superstars to plug into the show.

But that doesn’t mean that the tag match wasn’t entertaining. Putting RK-Bro, Street Profits, Dirty Dawgs and AJ Styles & Omos into a lengthy bout was a recipe for an enjoyable segment. The announcers did a nice job of noting how the other three teams all are gunning for RK-Bro’s Raw Tag Team Championship. Then the Profits have their own beef with AJ & Omos. And then the heels began sniping during the match itself. There was a lot going on here.

We’ll need to start seeing things move along, and let’s hope some of the other tag teams get involved, but it’s nice to see the tag division get a little bit of focus, if only for one week.
