Sometimes when you have a lot to fit into a promo, things get all jumbled. In Seth Rollins’ case, it was his emotions that bounced around.

Rollins spoke backstage about Brock Lesnar attacking Rey Mysterio and his son Dominick, giving it the somber response it deserved. He then quickly transitioned to an unsure tone about facing Bray Wyatt at Hell in a Cell, before promising to “survive, prevail” and walk out of HIAC with his Universal Championship. (Uggh, that line again.)

Seth then amped up to announce that this was the season premiere(!) of Raw and he was giving someone an opportunity to step up for a Universal Championship match Monday night.

The emotions were all over the map, all in the span of a minute. It was jarring, to say the least. He could have easily stayed “lower” emotionally in his call-out for an open challenge rather than ramping up and it wouldn’t have been as bad as it was.
