7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2017

2. Charlotte Shows Her Superiority

The running storyline for the past month has been that Charlotte Flair is wrestling royalty, while Bayley is merely a fan living out her dream and has no right challenging the Queen for her Raw Women’s Championship.

While we all know that’s pretty far-fetched (Charlotte’s lost her title three times), it still works with an underdog fan favorite like Bayley. And so, when Charlotte won a hard-fought title bout Sunday night cleanly, it followed the storyline perfectly. Sure, she could have relied on Dana Brooke, or her feet on the ropes or some chicanery like that and things would have still worked.

But having Charlotte win clean allows her to repeat the mantra that Bayley isn’t in her league, and it lets the Huggable One doubt herself, maybe have to earn another title match at WrestleMania, where she would get one last shot to shut Charlotte up and prove her wrong.

It writes itself quite nicely, doesn’t it?
