The tagline for this year’s event might be “Remember the Rumble,” but Michael Cole’s memory apparently doesn’t even go back 365 days.

During the Raw Women’s Championship match, Corey Graves made reference to Ric Flair’s 1992 Rumble victory, winning the vacant WWF Championship. Cole immediately piped up, “The only time in Royal Rumble match history that the WWE Championship was up for grabs in the Royal Rumble match.”

There’s only one small problem with that statement: It’s not true. In fact, the WWE Championship was up for grabs at the Rumble last year. Roman Reigns was forced to defend his title at the Rumble and lost when Triple H entered at #30. Little mistakes with misspeaking are easy to forgive, but this one can’t be brushed aside as easily.
