7 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (Aug 26)

2. Let Him Mav' It

Maverick Undisputed

Do you remember playing Career Mode on the old SmackDown games on the PS2? When you'd have your custom superstar right in the middle of going after the European Championship? Big PPV match on the horizon against Eddie Gurrero? And then just randomly on Sunday Night Heat they'd get attacked by D-Lo Brown and have to wrestle him for two weeks instead? That's what this match was.

Drake Maverick getting a match with the Undisputed Era purely because he tweeted them is some wild booking. Having him hang with Kyle O'Reilly for 5 minutes is some wild booking. Having Killian Dain come down to save him... only to then smash him in the face... is some wild booking. Lawful Evil Me didn't like this at all but Chaotic Neutral Me was bang into it.

If you're looking for something to make this worthwhile, then O'Reilly being reluctant to join in the post-match beatdown was an interesting wrinkle. Plus Dain and Maverick should 1000% be a tag team because there are some major X-Pac/Kane vibes going on there.
