7 Ups And 2 Downs From NXT TakeOver: Phoenix

Ups...

7. A Thumping Entrance

Typically, special entrances are reserved for WrestleMania, when several superstars get supersized walks down the aisle.

But Saturday, we opened TakeOver with a Viking phalanx standing guard as fog rose from the entranceway. The drumbeats continued until Hanson and Rowe emerged from the darkness, wearing helmets and leading fans in their “War” chant.

It was a cool way to start the evening, and it made War Raiders feel like an even bigger deal, which was smart considering the Undisputed Era is extremely well established and was going to engender a big reaction from fans on their own.

And someday, we’ll get a trivia question about one of the Vikings flanking War Raiders turning out to be a future WWE champion.
