7 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 10)

2. Successful Bayley Defence In Carmella's Best NXT Match

I'm not going to over-hype it and say this was one of Bayley's classic matches that we've seen in NXT in the past. but it was solid and, more importantl,y told a good story with Carmella and Bayley as BFFs having to put their friendship aside to compete for the Championship. This was, by far, the best match of Carmella's career in NXT so far. There was drama, we got near falls, and Bayley made her friend look like a serious threat to her title, which shows you how far Bayley has come in being able to make her opponent look so good in defeat. Carmella's got a long way to go to if she's going to be delivering classic matches on Takeover specials in the future, but this episode was a huge step in the right direction for her. She proved she could hang with Bayley in a TV main event and look like she belonged there, which for a woman who's been wrestling for less than two years is a pretty impressive accomplishment.
