7 Ups And 3 Downs From NXT Stand And Deliver 2023

5. InDex Reunites

Of all the wrestlers in the NXT Women’s Championship ladder match, Indi Hartwell had to be at the bottom of the list of likely winners. The smart money would have been on Roxanne Perez retaining or Tiffany Stratton winning the title.

Indi didn’t look particularly great early on, with several slow climbs that had Booker T and Vic Joseph criticizing her. Then at the end, Indi tipped over a ladder, sending Stratton the floor on top of the rest of the field, leaving her alone. But Hartwell was too knackered to climb.

That’s when Dexter Lumis popped up from under the ring and gave Indi a thumbs-up before hoisting her onto his shoulders and climbing the ladder, helping his wife retrieve the belt and become the new women’s champion.

It was the one heartfelt, emotionally invested moment you felt during the entire ladder match, but it was a really good one. Say what you want about whether Indi “deserves” the big win, this was a cool moment, as was what came later, when The Way reunited onstage.

As for Roxanne, at 21, she’s got plenty of time to regain the title… unless she’s getting a call to be on Raw or SmackDown next week, which isn’t out of the question.
