Ever since the Mae Young Classic ended last year, Shayna Baszler has looked all but unbeatable. She has mowed through opponents, all the way to the NXT Women’s Championship.

Meanwhile, Sane, one of only two women to beat Baszler, has floundered with mediocre success in NXT. So when the two tangled at TakeOver Saturday night, it wasn’t hyperbole to call the Pirate Princess the underdog.

Sane hung with Baszler, absorbing punishment and amping herself up to hit a series of high-impact moves to weaken the champion. In the end, Kairi used her experience to overcome Shayna and win the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time. It was a pretty sweet moment for Sane, and showed that Baszler is fallable.
