7 Ups And 4 Downs From Evolve 10th Anniversary

1. Catch Point Reunion

We’ve seen this matchup in NXT before, but Saturday night, we got an all-out mat battle between Drew Gulak and Matt Riddle.

The two formerly partnered in Evolve as Catch Point, which a helpful video explained was more of a mindset and attitude than anything else. Gulak, who wore his WWE Cruiserweight Championship to the ring, kept jockeying with Riddle for submission holds and traded strikes and trademark moves – and counters – for nearly 15 minutes.

There was barely a break in the action, which finally ended when Riddle went for a Floating Bro but landed in a Gulock, which Riddle escaped to nail a Bro Derek for the win. This is a match to go back and watch, just so you realize that both men can really “go” in the ring, WWE characters aside.

Afterward, Gulak (a heel on 205 Live) congratulated Riddle, and the two shook hands and hugged, which was a nice touch.
