4. Boa Snaps (Sort Of) And Gacy Does It For Harland
In a meeting of two characters whose booking in recent times can be described as "questionable" to say the least, last night saw a freshly face-painted Boa lock horns with everyone's favourite woke antagonist Joey Gacy.
Confessing that he was doing this all for Harland beforehand, Gacy deployed his usual variety of misdirection and goading tactics to get the upper hand against the Tian Sha disciple. But not even these underhanded weapons could stop Boa from unleashing some devastating kicks and knees once he started to pick up a head of steam.
Then, NXT 2.0 appeared to take some unwanted inspiration from Extreme Rules 2021. Flickering the lights and seemingly being possessed by an otherworldly force, Boa quickly snapped and began choking the motivational moron to the point of disqualification. As the lights returned to the closest thing to normal in this paint-splattered environment, a stunned Boa recoiled as he assessed the damage he (or someone else?) had done.
None of this clicked, with both Boa's supernatural snap and Gacy's uneasy stare down the camera to Harland afterwards both conjuring up the wrong kind of tension. Do you really care about what happens next on either one of these stars' journeys? And when was the last time this sort of gimmicky, light show, "spookiness" actually connected with a crowd to the point of getting someone over? The more things change...
